It's cost-effective, it's flexible, and it gives you control. But it’s so easy to get stuck and overwhelmed!
Over the years, I’ve heard:
“I have no idea where to start.”
“I just don’t get on with tech.”
“I tried doing it myself but the results just didn’t look professional.”
“I was really happy with what my web designer put together for me, but my business has evolved, and I feel like I’m being a nuisance every time I ask them to change something.”
… and much, much more!
It’s so easy to procrastinate on your website when you’re planning to do it yourself. You’re worried that you’ll get stuck on the tech and mess it up. Worried that it won’t look perfect. Stuck on what to write.
But it doesn’t have to be like this.
Creating your website can be a fun, playful experience when you approach it the right way.
- Playing with the colours, fonts and layouts to get a design that really feels like you
- Confidently writing your text and formatting it to appear exactly as you want
- Putting together all of the moving parts without a hitch
… and being able to do all of this confidently and easily.
How would it feel to do all this with a trusted advisor on hand to answer all of your questions, help you get a pro design, and hold your hand as you master the tricky tech stuff?
How would it feel to build your own website and come out the other side with a gorgeous site, feeling confident that it will get results, and sublimely happy with what you’ve created?
I believe that you CAN create your own website, that you CAN do it well, and you CAN have fun along the way.
Of course, when you decide to do your own website, you can very quickly become unstuck. Should you use WordPress or Squarespace? Wix or Weebly? Making the right decision seems vital, but it’s hard to know how to choose.
You’ve heard people talk about WordPress, like it’s the best thing since sliced bread. Surely that would be the best way to go?
WordPress is a super-flexible platform. One that will allow your business to grow and evolve. One that will easily lend itself to outsourcing your web needs in the future if that’s what you plan to do, once you have some more clients under your belt!
But WordPress isn't the easiest platform to learn, especially if you’re not tech-savvy.
In this 6-module program, you’ll take your website from first ideas to fully-functioning and live on the internet, through a series of video-training sessions. And you’ll have plenty of support and help along the way, to make sure you actually get your website finished.
You’ll build your pages on WordPress using Divi (a drag-and-drop theme that makes putting together your pages easy); and by the end of the program, you’ll have a shiny new gorgeous website that feels just like you. You’ll know exactly how everything works behind the scenes, and be confident enough to add content and new features as your business grows (saving you a heap of money along the way).
And when someone asks you if you have a website, you’ll feel proud to share the link with them, knowing that your website is creating a fantastic first impression.

When does it start?
You can start today. You'll get access to the course website as soon as your payment has been processed.
How long do I get access to the materials?
You will be able to access the course website for as long as we continue to run the course. And you can also download the videos, worksheets, checklists etc. to your computer to keep indefinitely.
How many of hours of 'homework' will I need to do?
Creating a website does take work, so to get the most out of this course you should set aside approximately 2-3 hours a week to work on the activities. If you work at our suggested pace, it will take you 7 weeks to complete your website, but you can go faster or slower than this, depending on your enthusiasm and other commitments!
Do I need to have my colours, fonts, and logo done before taking the course?
Not at all! If you have your branding already then you'll use it, otherwise we spend some time in the first module choosing colours, fonts, and visual style for your new website. If you don't have a logo yet, we'll show you how you can create a text-based logo (known as logotype) and how to add it to your website.
Do I need to have my domain name registered before I start?
No you don't. We'll recommend good suppliers and guide you through the setup process for registering your domain and setting up hosting as soon as you start the course.
Will I learn how to install plugins?
Definitely! We'll guide you through installing and setting up several plugins during the course, and you'll have the confidence to add others if you need something else!
Will I need to buy any extra software?
You won't need to buy additional software to complete the course.
Rock Your Website includes a lifetime licence* (including free updates) for you to use Divi on your website.
And there are no paid plugins required for this course. Instead we will use reputable free plugins. Sometimes there may be an option to use a paid plugin, but there will always be a free alternative.
You will need to pay for your domain name and hosting though! And if you intend to use stock photos, you will also want to set aside a budget for this.
* Your Divi licence does not include technical help from Elegant Themes (although we'll help you in the Facebook group during the course). If you need Divi help after you finish the course, you will need to purchase a membership directly with Elegant Themes.
I already have a website. Will the course still be suitable for me?
Rock Your Website is suitable for anyone DIYing their website - whether it's your first website, or you're moving from another platform, or even just rebuilding in WordPress after outsourcing the first time around. If you're switching to Divi for the first time you'd get a lot out of it too :)
I’m a web developer with a passion for client-focussed websites and clean modern design. After graduating with a Masters degree in Computer Science, I discovered my love of all things webby in 1998, and have been creating websites ever since! I spent 5 years working as a senior web developer with prominent web agencies in Sydney and London, before starting my own web design business in 2007.
After creating hundreds of websites — for big brands with huge budgets, and tiny businesses on tight budgets — I understand what it takes to build a website that is easy on your visitors and easy on you, and most importantly helps you get new client bookings, get people on your list, and sell your stuff!
You could pay me to build your website for you, but I believe in empowering you to do it yourself. You're intelligent, you CAN learn the tech, you CAN make a pro-looking design… and I'm going to make it easy for you!
